Ethiopia are three places shy of breaking into the top 100 after moving nine places to 103rd in the latest FIFA ranking released today.

AFCON 2017 qualifiers Uganda have dropped two places to 75th. The Cranes exited the Gabon hosted showpiece prematurely after losing two but one of their group matches.

Rwanda hit the reverse gear after making tremendous gains in the last ranking – dropping 7 steps to seal the top 100.

Kenya, who have not been active since last year, like most East African countries, stagnates at 87th.

Burundi are up one step to 138th while Sudan drop two places to 139th.

Tanzania’s downward spiral have seen them hit a further low of 158th – below little known Taipei China, Barbados and Belize.

2017 AFCON runners-up Egypt have overtaken Senegal as the best ranked team in the continent – having climbed 12 places, while the newly crowned African Champions Cameroon have moved a whopping 29 places to 3rd.

Tunisia and DR Congo seal the top 5 positions in Africa. Argentina, Brazil, Germany, Chile and Belgium are the top five teams in the world in that order.
The next ranking will be released March 9, 2017.
