Ethiopian International Oumed Oukri joins Egyptian side Aswan from rivals Smouha

Ethiopian International Oumed Oukri has joined Egyptian Premier League side Aswan from rivals Smouha.

Aswan secured promotion back to the Egyptian Premier League first tier  after finishing on top of group A in the Egyptian Second Division, eight points above their closest rival Beni Suef.

As a result the club made 16 new signings in hopes to strengthen their squad and avoid relegation in the upcoming season. These players include former Zamalek midfielder Mohamed Khalifa as well as Al Ahly forward Fady Farid on free transfers.

After impressing with Ethiopian giants Saint George SA, Oukri secured a move to the Egyptian Premier League back in 2014 when he joined Ittihad of Alexandria.

However after a first unsuccessful season with the Alexandria-based side he went on to join ENPPI where he made just eight appearances before signing for Entag El Harby, then Smouha.

His two years with the Blues proved quite successful as he appeared on 66 occasions scoring six goals and providing seven assists. He also guided them to a fifth-placed finish in his first season, just missing out on continental football.

Following the expiration of his contract with Smouha the 28-year-old will now join recently promoted side Aswan and with 121 appearances to his name in Egypt thus far he could prove to be an important asset for his new side.
