Kenyan international and Kariobangi Sharks forward Ovella Ochieng is hopeful of a great showing for league debutants Kariobangi Sharks in the Kpl despite suffering a 3:1 loss at the hands of league giants Gor Mahia in the league opening encounter.

Speaking exclusively to Soka25east.com he insisted that he is not under any pressure at the moment and they will work on their mistakes they made in the first match.

“I think its our first game and I am under no pressure, they scored 3 against us but even Barcelona lose matches and they are one of the best clubs in the world. All I know is that we are new entrants in the league therefore the first match cannot discourage us, we will pick from where we left and work on the mistakes we made from the first match.”

The 17 year old is however thrilled with making his debut in the Kpl and hopes to cement his place in the first team with his eyes set on scoring 10 goals for his side.

“I thank God, its been a huge step in my career, I feel great for the exposure and the opportunity to play against teams that I have never played against. What you should expect is maybe seeing me in Kariobangi sharks first eleven because that is what i have been working on. I wish to have ten goals
this season.”

The lad who is part of the 26 locally based players called up to the Harambee Stars by head coach Stanley Okumbi hopes to make the cut for both the Uganda and DR Congo international friendlies.

“My target in the national team is to make it to the squad and if by chance i get the chance to play in the game I will represent my country fully by playing my best but i don’t want to prove anyone wrong but all i want is my country to win and move higher in the FIFA ranking.”
