The much hyped inaugural “Amhara derby” in the Ethiopian Premier League ended in a colourless barren draw at Melka Kolle Stadium, Woldia on Sunday 11.

In the “Coffee derby” also on Sunday, Ethiopian Bunna settled for another barren draw with Sidama Bunna at Addis Stadium.

Table toppers and defending champions Kidus Giorgis for the third straight time failed to snatch a win, as they were held to a 0-0 draw by visiting Adama City in Addis.

Veteran striker Salhadin Said and Taffese Tesfaye were the more enterprising for the horsemen but were wasteful with the final ball, on the other end, Suleiman Mohammed was the chief tormentor for Adama, however, Kidus keeper Robert Odongkara was always alert to avert any dangers.

All week 5 matches were preceded by a minute of silence in honour of former international Zelalem Tshome, who played for the Walia Ibex between 1985 and 1989, who died last week.

More fans continued to flock the stadiums across the country as the season begins to take shape.
