FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup has been postponed due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The tournament was penciled for India from November 2nd to 21.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) and the Local Organising Committe said in a statement that they support the decision by FIFA to postpone the tournament in regard to public health.

“We are supportive of the decision made by FIFA to postpone the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.

We agree that this has been made with the highest regard for public health, and the participating teams, host cities, staff and visiting teams, and keeps the best interests of everyone in mind,”

“The primary concern is the health and wellbeing of every stakeholder involved in the Tournament. We don’t want to take any risk that is detrimental to our community before it is clear that there is no threat to people’s health due to this pandemic.”

The CAF qualifiers for the showpiece event are in their final stage. Six African nations -Morocco, South Africa, Ghana,Nigeria, Cameroon and Uganda remain on course to qualify for the showpiece event with only three slots available.
New dates for the tournament are yet to be confirmed by FiFA, AIFF and the Local Organising Committe.
