Ivorian striker Ibrahim Fofano netted a brace as Ethio-Electric beat St. George to lift the eleventh edition of Addis Ababa City Cup at Addis stadium, Sunday, November 6, 2016.

In the third place playoff, this year’s guests in the 8-team pre-season tourney Adama City edged out Nigid Bank by Sisay Wajo’s lone strike in the 66th minute, to take home bronze.

In the highly entertaining final, Adama were the superior side, but despite bossing the game, it took them more than half an hour to break the deadlock.

New signing Fofano made his presence noticed with a superb strike in the 35th minute for a 1-0 score at the first interval.

He stretched the lead with a brace three minutes to stoppage time to seal the electricity men’s third Addis Ababa City Cup title.

For his troubles, Fifano walked home with the most valuable player of tournament’s accolade, while his coach Berhanu Bayu the best coach’s.

St. George’s new kid on the block Abubeker Sani with 5 goals, was awarded the golden boot.

The end of the tournament signals start of 2016/17 Ethiopian premier league, which kicks-off Saturday, November 12, 2016.
