Football Kenya Federation (FKF ) is not going down without a fight after it became apparent Harambee Starlets will not be representing Kenya at the upcoming Women Africa Cup of Nations(AWCON).

This is after CAF upheld the appeal by Equitorial Guinea who had been ejected from the tournament after Kenya filled an appeal against an ineligible player.

As the news hit the county with a thunderbolt FKF President Nick Mwendwa immediately contacted CAF giving them only two options “either we are in to make nine teams or the tournament is postponed until exhausting of the pending issue”Mwendwa said

” We have made contact with CAF and we will make a follow up with an urgent letter to be dispatched today ”

“I have raised two issues either CAF allows the tournament to have 9 teams since we are not at fault having prepared fully for the tournament with financial implications. My question is  if indeed Equitorial Guinea appealed why were we not informed ?We would have adequately represented ourself at the appeal hearing but it seems they only heard one side ” Mwendwa added

On the other hand Mwendwa did not mince his words on FKF second option”If we can’t be allowed to play the tournament since its not our fault I have written to CAF to postpone the AWCON tournament so that we can fully exhaust the issue on the table amicably since we have our valid facts and side of the story.I am very optimistic CAF will give a solomonic  ruling on this issue “Mwendwa concluded.

Harambee Starlets have been preparing for the competition on Wednesday they drew 1-1 against visitors Ghana in a warm up match in Nairobi.
