Former Gor Mahia Ugandan international Khalid Aucho has joined India’s I-League side East Bengal FC on a two-year-deal.

Khalid, who has been out of competitive football since mid last year, traveled to Kolkata, India yesterday and was officially unveiled at the club this morning.

“He will put on shirt number 5. I have always believed in his immense talent and I know he will deliver for his new club,” Khalid’s agent Ronny Santos said.

Khalid will unfortunately  miss the forthcoming Uganda Cranes’  warm-ups against Seychelles and Malawi on 24th and 27th March, 2018 in Kampala, but Ronny has assured that his client will be available for future assignments.

“He was due to report to camp ahead of the friendlies, but his club after qualifying for Indian Super Cup wanted to register him before deadline tomorrow.

“I have explained the same to head coach Desabre Sebastien, I believe in his work and good vision for Uganda Cranes and I’m sorry that Khalid will not play the games and that he will miss first training under his watch.

“Khalid loves Uganda Cranes and he loves putting on jersey number 8. I know he will make up for this lost chance.

The left footed midfielder last played for OFK Beograd on loan from Red Star Belgrade.

He was part of Gor’s invisible team of 2015 that won the Kenyan Premier League unbeaten.
