Galatasaray have signed Henry Onyekuru on a season-long loan from Everton. The Nigerian joined the Toffees ahead of the 2017-18 season, but was immediately loaned out to Anderlecht. He scored nine goals in 19 appearances for the Belgian side before a knee injury in January cut his campaign short.

Galatasaray have confirmed the signing of Henry Onyekuru on a season-long loan from Everton.

Talks have been ongoing for days between the two sides over a possible temporary switch, with the Nigerian international still not able to play for his parent club due to work permit issues.

The winger was signed by the Blues last summer from KAS Eupen, but was immediately sent to spend the 2017/18 term with Anderlecht as he couldn’t pick up a UK work permit.

The 21-year-old was impressive in the first half of the campaign in Belgium, bagging 10 goals in his first 27 appearances and also impressing in the Champions League, which could have been a key factor in the forward potentially being able to play in the Premier League.

A serious injury forced  Onyekuru to return to Finch Farm for treatment, but the Everton  man did return to Anderlecht before the end of the term and was fully fit to play.

However, the winger was consistently left out – meaning that he missed out on Nigeria’s World Cup squad for Russia and scuppered any potential opportunity to be able to play for the Blues this term.

Galatasaray announced on Monday that they were in talks over a potential deal, and have now confirmed that the Everton man will spend next term in Turkey.
