Ghana Football Association acquires talkbacks for referees

by Dom Agbakpe

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has purchased 10 sets of communication gadgets for Ghana Premier League middlemen.

The equipments are one of the main features used in the more established leagues especially in Europe to exchange information between the centreman and his assistants

Prosper Harrison Addo, the General Secretary took delivery of the devices on behalf of the FA in Accra on Thursday, May 28, 2020.

This is a boost for Ghanaian referees who officiate in the Premier League as these gadgets are expected to aid effective communication during games in the Ghanaian top flight.

Referees officiated the first fifteen matches of the 2019/2020 season without the communication device. And this will be a welcoming news for officiating officials.

They, however, will be used by all the four referees across the nine league venues.

The gadjets was manufactured by Vokkero. The French outfit is a leader in radio communication systems for mobile teams for professionals.

The 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League has been on a standstill since March due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Medeama SC were leading the log when the league was paused, sitting two points clear off second-placed Aduana Stars, who were locked on 28 points.
