The Ghana government through its Youth Employment Agency Programme (YEA) will be providing a monthly allowance of $87 to about 480 Women’s Premier League players for the next six months.

The initiative starts immediately after the Ghana FA reached an agreement with the government to have some of the players on the YEA Programme.

As a result, the Ghanaian government will for the next six months be injecting $250,000 as allowances to the Women’s Premier League players.

This is to aleviate the financial burden posed by the coronavirus outbreak which led to the suspension of sports. It has also led to the 2019/20 football season in Ghana to be cancelled after a consensus from the Ghana FA Executive Council who held a meeting on June 30.
