Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier concerned about team fielding

In an interview with Soka25east.com a day after losing to arch rivals AFC Leopards in the “Mashemeji Derby”, Gor Mahia chairman Mr. Ambrose Dickson Otieno Rachier, openly expressed concerns over team fielding.

He particularly questioned why regulars Karim Nizigiyimana, Enock Agwanda and new signing Jacob Keli were benched in the 1-0 loss.

“As management, we are worried about the latest poor performance by Gor Mahia, and that’s why we are trying to find out the source of the dismal run,” Rachier said.

“Team fielding is an area we believe the technical bench should seriously look into. I can’t understand why a player like Karim Nizigiyimana should be on the bench in such a match, knowing his quality,”

Karim, the 2015 Kenyan Premier League defender of the year was a unused sub in yesterday’s match at Kasarani – in his place, new acquisition Luke Ochieng was preferred in the right full back role.

Immediately after the painful loss, an informal meeting of the management was held at Kasarani to review the overall performance of the team thus far, where it emerged that team fielding is one area the technical bench lead by Frank Nuttall should improve on.

It is also reported that the TB was put on notice to have their house in order, after reports emerged of disunity between them and a section of players.

Asked what will be the next immediate action if rough patch persists,Ambrose did not mince his words.

“Of course heads will have to roll.”

K’Ogalo takes on City Stars in their next league match on Sunday 13 at Nyayo Stadium.
