Gor Mahia release Ajax bound Abondo

Gor Mahia attacking midfielder Victor Ali Abondo is finally free to leave the club for greener pastures down south.

The 26-years old former Sony Sugar FC and Tusker player tried out successfully with Premier Soccer League side Ajax Cape Town in South Africa, and has been in Kenya seeking release letter from his parent club Gor Mahia, which he was eventually granted.

The development has been confirmed by Gor’s head Coach Frank Nuttall and acting Secretary General Ronald Ngala.

“It’s true we have let go of Abondo. We cannot stand in the way of his ambitions, if he finds a better club abroad we can only wish him all the best.” Ngala said.

Abondo had a year left on his contract with K’Ogalo which he wanted mutually terminated.

Nicknamed “Teargas”, Abondo was a core part of the invincible Gor’s team of 2015. He scored 11 goals during the season which also saw him return to the national team Harambee Stars.
