by Agnes Amondi

Gor Mahia Chairman Ambrose Rachier has confirmed that club elections will be held on August 8 before the 2020/21 league season starts.

In a virtual meeting held on Tuesday convened by Rachier, members agreed to hold elections to elect new officials who will run the club for the next four years as the term of the current officials expired. Only four positions will be available – Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary General and Treasurer.

“It’s only proper to conduct an election as indicated in the club’s constitution and that is after every four years. We will put up a board to oversee the process and we will give more direction to those wishing to vie for any post. There will be only four posts – Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary General and Treasurer.” Rachier told Gor Mahia website.

Further, the club might opt for electronic voting should the COVID-19 pandemic persist. Only registered club members will be eligible to vote.

“We will be having our club’s election on August 8. In view of the voting COVID-19 pandemic, electronic voting will be used and only registered members will be allowed to vote. We advise fans to register as members in order to participate in such a process.” Rachier explained.

Fans can pay the annual membership fee of Ksh 1200 to register.
