Gor Mahia heroic skipper Jerim Onyango is still on cloud nine after his wonderful performance against host US Bitam of Gabon where he managed to save four penalty kicks to lead his charges to a famous win away.

The soft spoken shot stopper spoke to Soka25east.com upon arrival in Nairobi where he described the game as one of the most intriguing as the referee gave their opponents two unwarranted penalties and a red card to dependable defender David Owino aka Calabar.

“I want to thank God for the victory away in Bitam as it was one of the most difficult and the prevailing circumstances against us by the referee almost killed our spirits. However we stood tall and even after calls for two penalties i composed myself and managed to save to the suprise of our opponents who knew they were winning”

“Playing away in hostile circumstances is the most difficult part because the referee had made his judgement but God was on our side even during the penalty shoot outs.We dedicate the win to our fans who have stood by us but we have a tough job ahead of us as we prepare to play Esperance of Tunisia who are a not push overs at all”Onyango told Soka25east.com

After qualifying against US Bitam 2-4 on penalties after the match ended on a 1-1 aggregate, Kogalo have set up a mouth watering clash with Esperance of Tunis perhaps a reminder of the famous Mandela cup win in 1987.
