St. George are the 2016/17 Ethiopian Premier League Champions for the fourth season on the bounce with three matches to spare.

Adane Girma’s lone strike against Ethio-Electric on Thursday confirmed the 14th crown for the Horsemen after their close challengers Dedebit went down 2-1 to Adama Kenema in Adama.

The coach Mart Noolj’s side are now on 55 points – seven points clear of Dedebit with two rounds of fixtures to the end of the season.

St. George still have a match at hand and could stretch their haul to 64 points.

Dawa Hotessa and Tefese Tesfaye scored for Adama with Getaneh Kebede netting Dedebit’s only goal.

The title earns St. George a CAF Champions League berth next year; the club reached this year’s group phase for the first time in their long history.

Their opening group tie against defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns ended in a barren draw at Lucas Moripe Stadium, Pretoria, South Africa.
