Harambee Stars Rwanda trip hangs in the balance as Kpl declines to postpone fixures

By Bonface Osano,
Kenya’s Harambee Stars trip to Kigali for Rwanda’s Peace Cup tournament scheduled for this weekend  of June 6th and 7th 2015 is uncertain as the last round fixtures of Kenyan Premier League first leg are expected to conclude on the same weekend, KPL CEO Jack Oguda has confirmed.
The bulk of the players Stars head Coach Bobby Williamson called up to start preparations today for the tournament and the up coming AFCON 2017 and CHAN 2016 qualifiers ply their trade locally with league leaders Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards and Tusker FC contributing the highest number of players to the national side.
“As KPL we are not going to postpone any matches over the weekend, it’s upon teams to decide if they want to release their players to the national team.
We have all matches on schedule before the league goes for the mid season break.” Oguda told Soka25east.com
Tusker FC already traveled to the lake side city of Kisumu ahead of their weekend match against Gor Mahia and it is unclear if they will release their players to join the national team that is expected to depart Nairobi on Thursday 4th.
The League body and Kenyan FA have had a rough relationship especially this season and this latest development could just open old wounds.
