Hawassa City FC goalkeeper Kibreab Dawit Tuesday night perished in a fire accident at home in Hawassa.

His two daughters’ aged 3-years and 7-months also died in the tragic accident, while their mother survived with injuries, and is receiving treatment.

The 24-year-old was the second choice custodian for the two times Ethiopian premier league champions since 2014/15 season.

He managed 6 starting berths for the “Lake Siders” during his stay, and a trial stint in Portugal. Dawit touted as future of Ethiopian goalkeeping also had a stint with U-23 national team.

Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) boss Juneidi Basha conveyed his condolences to the family, “I’m saddened to hear the passing away of Hawassa Kenema goalkeeper Kibreab Dawit and his two children in a fire accident. I offer my condolences to all. May their souls rest in peace.”
