Ivorian-born Guinean defender Soumahoro Bangaly has expressed his desire to play for Guinea.

The 26-year-old who plays for South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns was born in Ivory Coast but can play for Guinea through his parents.

In an interview with Conakry based publication, Football Factory, Bangaly has declared his intentions to represent the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations quarter finalists instead of the Elephants.

“Playing for Guinea is not a problem. I have dual nationality so that is not a problem. Who does not like playing for his mother’s national team? “he said.

Bangaly began his footballing career in Abidjan and played with AFAD Djekanou and ASEC Mimosas before he joined the Brazilians in the July/August transfer window in 2015.

He also had a short stint in Romanian Liga 1 with Sport Club Municipal Ramnicu Valcea where after two games he returned to Ivory Coast.

The central defender will be in action tonight for Mamelodi Sundowns where they are set to play away to Horoya AC of Guinea in a Caf Champions League Group C clash at September 28 Stadium.

The fixture has been held over from last week‚ moved to allow Sundowns to host Barcelona.
