Joey Antipas steps down as Zimbabwe Warriors coach

By Jefferson Ndhlovu,

Zimbabwe national team interim coach Joe Antipas has announced his departure from the national team.

Barely 24 hours after upsetting their perennial football enemies Chipolopolo at their home ground. Though without admitting the Warriors went into this match as underdogs and coming victorious was something that was never in their plans.

History was staked against them. They had never beaten Zambia at their home ground since being readmitted to the International Football in 1980 by Fifa.

But two goals in each half by Kaiser Chiefs talisman Khama Billiat was enough to break the Zambian hearts. And it would appear Billiat just knows how to score goals against Zambian teams.

His last visit to Zambia, he was dressing in up in the Mamelodi Sundowns colours and were up against Zesco United and he scored a goal that practically put one foot for the South African giants into the finals of CAF Confederation Cup.

Meanwhile, its the announcement by coach Antipas that might have caught the nation in awe as they are busy celebrating that mammoth success in Lusaka.

In a brief statement, qouted by many media outlets in Zimbabwe, Antipas simply said“I take a bow,”

The reasons could many, and it will be heavy to assume that man wants to focus on his paymasters who are pushing to win the 2019 league championship.
