South Sudan national team the Bright Stars will after all make it to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea for the AFCON 2017 final round qualifiers against the host on Sunday 4.

This has been made possible by the government who has secured funding for the trip after earlier indicating they could not meet the obligation.

The sweet news was delivered by the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA) in a statement to the media Wednesday afternoon.

Failing to honor the important fixture would have attracted heavy fine from the continental football body CAF and an automatic disqualification from the 2019 campaigns.

Below is the full communication;

The South Sudan Football Association is very pleased to announce that funding has been made available to allow the Bright Stars to travel to Equatorial Guinea for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier to be played this Sunday in Malabo.

We kindly thank the Government of South Sudan for providing the funding, especially given the difficult economic conditions currently facing our country. The Juba-based national team players will depart from Juba tomorrow, with the Khartoum-based players joining the squad during the stopover in Ethiopia.

Thanks again to all parties involved for their assistance and commitment to our national team, and we promise that the national team players will do their best to proudly represent South Sudan.
