Harambee Starlets coach David Ouma says he is satisfied with the performance of his charges despite bowing out of Africa Women Cup of Nations fight for a semi-final place after 3-1 loss to Mali.

Second half brace from Bassira Toure and a goal from Sebe Coulibaly sinked the Starlets who got a late consolation from Cheris Avilia.

Despite hailing the team performance the former Sofapaka gaffer was left to rue a number of missed opportunities having been denied by fantasctic goalkeeping from Mali.

“We are the first casualty and have not met our target in our maiden appearance at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations. We wanted to be in the semis. The game was a simple analysis. We got a chance, fail to score; Mali gets same chance and they score. We got good chances to score but fantastic goalkeeping from Mali denied us. Sometimes you need luck in a game.

“Our aim is to take the most from every game. We still have a game against Nigeria and there is nothing like resting key players. The players who are fit will play against Nigeria. We have to throw in what we have in the last game,”

Kenya next assisgnment will be aganist Nigeria who previously thrashed Nigeria 6-1 in the group opening match.
