Kenya confirmed CHAN 2018 hosts,CAF to present hosting instruments next weekend in Kigali

Confederation of African Football (CAF) will on 7th February 2016 hand over the CHAN hosting instruments to Kenya.

CAF Vice President, Kabele Camara made the revelation in the Rwandan capital, Kigali.

Kenyan football officials will be present at Amahoro to officially receive the CHAN 2018 hosting instruments and relevant documents.

Kenya becomes the third CECAFA member nation to host the second most prestigious football tournament on the African soil.

Kenya last hosted a competitive football tournament when they hosted the CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup in 2013.

 

Kenya boast of several playing stadia in Nakuru (Afraha), Nairobi (Kasarani, Nyayo and City Stadium), Moi Stadium in Kisumu, Mumias Sports Complex, Machakos Stadium, as well as the coastal confine of Mombasa Municipal Stadium.

Sudan hosted the second edition in 2011 before Rwanda’s turn in 2016.

Camara also revealed the East African region has a chance to host AFCON just in case any of the member states apply in time for the bidding of the 2023 edition.

West Africa will host the next three editions in 2017, 2019 and 2021 by Gabon, Cameroon and Cote D’ Ivoire respectively.
