Kenya Football Elections: Elections board give clearance to eligible members ahead of elections

After the paying the nomination fees and vetting the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Electoral Board has cleared eligible members who will vie for seats.

The polls will be held on three dates; sub branch polls on December 3, branch polls on December 7 and the national polls on December 14.

Eight hundred and forty two seats will be up for grabs in the polls and a total of 1,171 candidates have been cleared with six set to contest for the national chairman’s seat and a similar number for the vice chairman’s seat.

At the National Executive Committee (NEC) level, a total of 27 candidates will be vying for the eight seats available; Nairobi, Coast, Western, Nyanza, Rift Valley, North Eastern, Central and Eastern.

A total of 257 candidates received clearance to vie for the 160 available positions at the branch level.

857 candidates have been cleared to vie for the 672 seats at the sub branches’ level.

At the national level, incumbent Sam Nyamweya will be seeking re – election after four years in office as will be his deputy Robert Asembo.

Asembo replaced Sammy Sholei as the vice chair after Sholei was deposed just months into the post in 2012 over allegedly taking a football matter to court.
