Kenya: Football Suspended for the second time amidst a third wave of Covid-19

Football Kenya Federation has suspended all its leagues until further notice. This after President Uhuru Kenyatta roled out additional measures on Friday to curb the third wave of the coronavirus.

“Football Kenya Federation has with immediate effect, suspended all FKF leagues and competitions, which include but are not limited to the FKF League, National Super League, FKF Division One, FKF Division 2 leagues, all FKF Women Leagues, all FKF branch and grassroot leagues as well as all FKF national and grassroot tournaments, until further notice” the statement read.

All sporting activities in the country have been suspended. This is the second time that sports has been brought to a hault. The first time was last year when the virus first hit.

On Friday, Kenya recorded 2,008 new COVID-19 cases to bring the total confirmed posiive cases to 128,178, a positivity rate of 17.7%.
