The Kenya U17 national team conceded a last-minute equalizer to share the spoils with Ethiopia in their opening match of the CECAFA U17 Championships played on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at the Umuganda Stadium in Rubavu, Rwanda. The match ended 2-2.
Captain James Gachago got the boys underway in the 13th minute with a goal that capped off an impressive first half from the Junior Stars.
The Ethiopian side came into the second half more rejuvenated, pulling one back in the 60th minute through Bereket Jiru.
Rajab Umar would however stab home what seemed like the winner in the 86th minute off a long throw by Khamis Nyale; not until a last gasp equalizer from the penalty spot, one that virtually was the last kick of the match.
The Junior Stars next face Uganda in their final group match on Wednesday, December 16, 2020.
