AFC Leopard and Sofapaka were the notable day losers as Bandari, considered genuine title contenders at the beginning of the season, drew away to Kakamega Homeboyz and Mathare United brought down Ulinzi Stars.

Ushuru 2-1 SonySugar (Nyayo Stadium)

Rodgers Ochieng stunning corner kick that went directly into the net in the 29th minute put Ushuru ahead.

The visitors conceded again five minutes later when Kennedy Oduor danced through Sony’s shaky defense before beating goalkeeper Timothy Odhiambo at the far post. It looked like Sony were headed for a rout.

Not quite. Long serving Sony forward Amos Asembeka converted a penalty at the stroke of half time after Masoud Juma had been fouled inside the box by Ushuru custodian Shabaan Odhoji.

Asembeka had a chance to salvage a point for Sony at the stroke of full time with another spot kick but his effort was saved by a diving Odhoji.

Kakamega Homeboyz 0-0 Bandari (Mumias Sugar Sports Complex)

Kakamega Homeboyz made home advantage count to prevent Bandari from completing a double on them.

Abbas Akinyemi made his debuts for Homeboyz in place of departed goal machine Jeremiah Wanjala, but his inclusion wasn’t enough to steer his team to victory.

Chemelil Sugar 1-0 AFC Leopards (Moi Stadium)

Veteran Hillary Echesa scored in the 50th minute after turning in an assist from outside the penalty area.

This result condemned Ingwe to their eighth consecutive league match without a win.

Sofapaka 1-2 Western Stima (Kenyatta Stadium)

Kenneth Miguna scored the opener in the 65th minute after capitalizing on a costly mistake from new Sofapaka defender Isaac Mutanga.

Miguna turned provider 12 minutes later when he floated a corner inside the penalty area for Fredrick Shimonyo to finish off.

Dead ball specialist Noah Abich however came through with the consolation goal for Batoto ba Mungu in added time with – what else? – a well taken free kick.

City Stars 1-1 Muhoroni Youth (Kasarani Stadium, 3pm)

Veteran striker Francis Ocholla put Muhoroni in the lead in the 18th minute after young Congolese striker Lnamba Bebeto had delivered a text book cross from the left.

Victory looked assured for the visitors but City rescued this one right at the death when Oliver Maloba struck in the third minute of time added on.

Mathare United 1-0 Ulinzi Stars (Nyayo Stadium)

Whyvonne Isuza plundered a lovely goal in the 10th minute, capitalizing on a defensive mistake by the unsettled Ulinzi back line.

The soldiers rallied frantically to catch up with their opponents, but Brian Birgen, Oscar Wamalwa and Churchill Muloma all had their attempts thwarted by a watchful Wycliffe Kasaya in the Mathare goal.
