Kenya’s Harambee Starlets romped into the semi finals of the ongoing Cecafa Women’s championship in Jinja,Uganda after drubbing hapless Burundi 4-0 in a one sided affair.

Neddy Atieno was the toast of the team as she grabbed a brace that gave Kenya important win with one game to go in the group stage as the race for golden boot took shape.

It was bound to be a tight clash for both teams who had won their respective first matches but Kenya came out the more stronger side.

Neddy Atieno broke the deadlock in thr eight minutes as Mary Kinuthia added the second  and her second goal of the campaign three minutes later to stretch the Starlets lead.

Esse Akida, who shone in her team first game by scoring a brace wasted no time in reminding the opponents why she was in the competition by bagging her team’s third goal and her third goal of the tournament a minute to the break; a feat the puts her joint in the golden boot race with Burundi’s Djazilla Uwimeza.

Neddy completer her  brace s and Starlets fourth of the game a minute after resumption with David Ouma withdrawing her for Corazone Aquino in the 58th minute to give the needed rest ahead of their last group game against Zanzibar.

Starlets who are the only team from the region to qualify for African Women Cup of Nations AWCON qualified for the semi finals with a game to spare.
