Kenyan Premier League 2018 season is set for kick-off this weekend with two matches planned for live television broadcast.

A double header at Nakuru’s Afraha Stadium pitting Ulinzi Stars against Zoo FC and Posta Rangers versus AFC Leopards will be beamed live on yet to be announced broadcaster on Saturday.

KPL Chief Executive Officer Jack Ogunda is however upbeat they will tie a deal with KTN TV, a local free to air channel, to carry the matches for a start.

“We are in talks with KTN and should get their confirmation this weekend,” Jack told Soka25east.

The channel showed live KPL Super Cup, which Gor Mahia won against arch rivals AFC Leopards last weekend in Nakuru.

The league body has secured production services of highly acclaimed Spanish media production company Media Pro.

The company managed to ship in their outside broadcast van yesterday in time for the big kick-off.

In other matches of the weekend, defending champions Gor Mahia will host Nakumatt FC at Machakos’ Kenyatta Stadium on Saturday.

Gor start the season with a trophy in the bag having edged AFC Leopards 1-0 to lift the Super Cup last weekend and are gearing up for a positive start against the retailers.

The coach Dylan Kerr side held extensive preseason starting late last December and played a number of buildup matches including against visiting Ugandan champions KCCA whom they thumped 4-2.

K’Ogalo will fly Kenya’s flag in the African Champions League and are scheduled to play Equatorial Guinea’s Leones Vegetarianos the following weekend in Machakos.

Two clubs will begin a new life in the Kenya’s topflight.

Newly promoted Wazito FC will take on Sony Sugar FC while newbies Vihiga FC will host 2008 champions Mathare United at the newly refurbished Bukhungu Stadium.
