KPL – Gor Mahia set eyes on Rwanda’s Ernest Sugira

Exclusive – Kenyan Premier League reigning champions Gor Mahia FC have made an initial informal contact with AS Kigali’s striker Ernest Sugira for a possible switch in June.

K’Ogalo’s scout who was credited with the signing of former Police FC and Amavubi captain Jacques Tuyisenge in January, Mr. Lordvick Aduda is believed to be on the trail of his latest target.

KPL mini transfer window opens in June. Aduda wants to tie down the former APR man to a pre contract agreement ahead of June.

K’Ogalo will however have to fight it out with DR Congo side AS Vita Club who had tabled USD 100,000 for Sugira. It is reported that the Florent Ibenge side have renewed interest in the player and talks which had stalled have resumed.

Gor Mahia have struggled to find the back of the net, scoring just once in four league matches. Big signing Tuyisenge who was to replace Michael Olunga, the club’s top scorer last year, is yet to recover from an injury he sustained while on national duty compounding their woes as pressure keeps pilling on Coach Frank Nuttall.

Sugira was a star performer for Rwanda during CHAN early this year – he scored three times helping Amavubi to advance to quarters where they were eliminated by eventual winners of the tournament DR Congo.

He boasts six league goals for AS Kigali in the Rwanda Premier League so far.

If the deal materializes then Gor will have to let go of one foreigner, since KPL only allows a maximum of 5, and K’Ogalo already have equal number in their current squad.
