KPL MATCH REPORT: CITY STARS vs USHURU FC (FULL TIME)

By Bonface Osano,

Ushuru FC settled for a 1-1 draw against relegation favorites City in a KPL match played at Nyayo Stadium on Saturday 16th. The draw leaves Ushuru’s 8th position and City’s 15 position in the KPL log unchanged.

The match started on a low with the early exchanges proving more physical than tactical but it was City that showed early signs of taking the lead.

Levy Muaka’s dangerous cross from the left across the face of goal with Ushuru defenders all beaten found Bruno Sserenkuma unmarked inside the box but his volley was way off the mark.

Ushuru opener

The visitors went ahead in the 23rd against a brilliant run of play. Allan Kateregga went past two defenders on the right before delivering a pin point cross to Mahammed Hassan whose first touch of the ball left his marker chasing before planting the ball on the top left side of the goal.

Luis Masika missed penalty

The hosts should have equalized at the stroke of half time after Naftali Muaka was brought down inside the box but Luis Masika missed the resultant penalty. The tax men headed into the breather enjoying the slim lead.

The Coach Ken Kenyatta side came back more dangerous and dominant and Obadiah Ndege should have doubled the lead in the 46th minute but his header off Allan Kateregga’s cross from the left was poor.

City equalizer

City Stars pressed on for an equalizer and in the 60th minute were rewarded when Bruno Sserenkuma dispossessed Ushuru defender Kanamuli Kapilima inside the box to powerfully drive home past Ushuru keeper Ali Kimera.

Coach Kenyatta made three quick substitutions pulling out Wasteful Obadiah Ndege for Joseph Mulume in the 51st minute, Moses Arita for Allan Kateregga in the 57th minute and Philemon Otieno for Naftali David in the 66th in a bid to tilt the scale on his favor.

City Stars pulled out Levy Muaka for Peter Musime in the  68th minute before Samuel Wailer made way for Robert Ndungu in the 70th minute. The two teams cancelled each other out afterwards to settle for the 1-1 draw.
