KPL WEEK 29 : TEAM OF THE WEEK

By Samuel Gacharira;

The 2014 league champion will be decided at the eleventh hour after both Gor Mahia and Sofapaka won their round 29 matches. In a weekend that saw Tusker limp out of the title race after a disappointing draw against Thika United, Soka25east salutes the best performers of the penultimate stage of the league.

The team of the week lines up in a 1-3-4-3 formation. In goal is Chemelil Sugars’ Frederick Onyango who made a string of impressive saves to ensure the millers kept a clean sheet.

His teammate James Omino leads the back three after putting up a towering display in central defense. Sofapaka’s Felly Mulumba returned from suspension in style putting up a brave show especially after they were reduced to ten men. Mathare United’s Robinson Kamura retains his place in the team after yet another accomplished performance against Western Stima.

Ekaliana Ndolo continued his fine form providing assists for all of Batoto Ba Mungu’s goals while Ugandan Geoffrey Kizito put up a man of the match performance in the process netting a beauty of a goal in what marked K’Ogalo’s 16th win of the season. Fellow countryman Godfrey Walusimbi gets a role on the left flank following his all-round show in the 3-1 win against Muhoroni. Thika United were porous at the back but Wycliffe Opondo was brilliant in attack notching the second for the John Kamau’s side.

In the striking department, Danny Sserunkuma leads the line after he netted his 15th goal of the season, the league’s best. In Mumias, Sofapaka’s Enock Agwanda stung AFC Leopards with a brace to ensure his side keep their title hopes alive. They are joined by Chemelil Sugar’s Meshack Karani who shook the net twice to condemn Ushuru to their ninth successive league loss.
