Nzoia United defender Brian Otieno is the Kenyan Premier League Player of the Month for March 2017.

Otieno becomes the first player to bag the coveted monthly gong after guiding the newbies to a dream start to the 2017 season.

He emerged tops after scoring two goals against defending champions Tusker in their opening match which they won 5-2 at Afraha Stadium.

In the second outing at their backyard in Bunguma, Otieno stood tall in defense to ensure they picked a point in a barren draw against 2008 champions Mathare United.

Otieno polled 17 votes ahead of Gor Mahia duo of Godfrey Walusimbi, whom he beat by three votes and Kenneth Muguna by six votes.

For his troubles, Otieno took home a glittering trophy, 49” LG TV and Kshs 100,000.

He also won his teammates Kshs 50,000 and will also get to choose a CSR project of his liking for funding by the award’s sponsors; LG Electronics and Sportpesa.
