Late Lesotho Goal sinks Harambee Stars in Maseru

By Administrator,
Lesotho took a positive leap in the second round first leg Afcon 2015 qualifers with a deserved 1-0 win against visitors Kenya at the Sesotho Stadium in Maseru on Sunday afternoon.
The solitary goal came late in the 60th minute when when Bushy Moletsane  sublime cross found Tsepo Seturumane who out jumped two defenders to head home past a hapless Wilson Obungu in the Kenyan goal to the jubilation of thousand of fans who thronged the stadium to watch their team.
Kenya begun the first half with alot of purpose as Peter Opiyo and Victor Wanyama’s partnership troubled the Lesotho defence though the visitors failed to capitalise on their chances with striker Allan Wanga the biggest culprit with most of his moves thwarted by energetic Lesotho keeper Kuenane.
The team went to the break deadlocked at 0-0 but upon resumption the hosts begun the game like a house on fire perhaps after the half time pep talk by coach Seephephe Matete who rang changes bringing on Mabuti Potloane for Thabo Masualle and the change immediately made impact.
Lesotho looked dangerous as they ran rings around the Kenyan defence despite the inclusion of Jacob Keli for Allan Wanga and Macdonald Mariga for David Gateri .Mariga’s inclusion suddenly inspired Kenya who started knocking the ball around but the Likuena boys remained adamant with the likes of Motlalepula Mofolo,Nkau Lerotholi and Eremea Kamele holding forte and thwarting all moves by Kenya perphaps content with the slim margin.
The return leg will be played in Nairobi in a fortnight and Kenya needs two clear goals to ensure they qualify for Group C while Lesotho will be looking to consolidate their lead.
