Lille’s striker Divork Origi uncertain to ever play for Kenya

Dennis Oliech and Divorck Origi

By Maureen Omondi,

Alot has been said about the possibility of young Divork Origi who currently plies his trade for Lille in the French Ligue 1 playing for his father’s country of birth Kenya .

However the possibilities seems to be diminishing with each passing day as the Belgium born striker is uncertain of ever playing for Kenya the country his father Mike Okoth Origi conquered while still a player.

Divock on Sunday met with another top Kenyan striker Dennis Oliech when Ajjacio faced lille but information filtering from their talks suggest that Divork Origi might instead settle to play for Belgium where he has been involved in the youth system.

At one time Harambee Stars coach Adel Amrouche frantically tried to call up the top striker to the national team but he declines saying he was not ready following gaffes by the Football Kenya Federation(FKF) which is known for treating the foreign based players in disdain for example when Inter Milan midfilder Macdonald Mariga refused to play for Kenya after the federation failed to refund money he used to purchase an air ticket for an International assignment.

As it stands it very unlikely for Divork Origi whose cousin Arnold Origi is also Kenya’s first choice keeper will ever play for Kenya but it all remains to be seen what will be his next move.
