Lucas Alcaraz has been appointed as the new coach of Algeria.
The appointment of the Spaniard was confirmed Thursday morning by the federal office of the Algerian Football Federation.

“The ad hoc committee, after consulting several technicians, adopted a short-list of three coaches. The choice was made of Lucas Alcaraz to lead the national team. This choice was approved unanimously by members of the federal office, ” wrote the FAF in a statement.

He succeeds George Leekens who resigned after the Desert Foxes were eliminated from the Africa Cup of Nations at the group stage of the tournament.

During his career, Alcaraz has coached Granada,a Spanish La Liga where he was sacked on Monday.He becames the third coach in a span of thirteen months for the national team side.
