Coach George Lwandamina could soon face the sack at Yanga SC for poor performance.

A high placed source at the club has indicated to Soka25east.com this could happen as the soon as the Tanzanian giants arrive back in the capital Dar Es Salaam from Mwanza.

Yanga lost 1-0 to Mbao FC in the semi-final of the Tanzania Cup at the CCM Kirumba Stadium, Mwanza on Sunday – denting their chances of playing continental football next year.

The team is currently second in the Tanzania Premier League table standings – three points behind arch rivals Simba SC; however, they have two matches at hand.

Lwandamina, 53, joined the Jangwani Street boys from Zambia’s Zesco United this season and was tasked with guiding the team in the CAF Champions League.

Nonetheless, he failed to replicate Zesco’s fine run in the 2016 Champions League at Yanga – failing to qualify for both the Champions League and the Confederations Cup group phase.

Lwandamina was hailed for taking Zesco to the semi-final of the premium continental club championship for the first time.
