Federation of Ugandan Football Association president Eng. Moses Magogo has called for respect as the organization gears up for polls in August this year.

Magogo holds that neither him nor the institution of FUFA subscribe to any form of abuse and diatribe against any person.

“I have followed a number attacks against persons in the game of football over a period. It has not taken our game anywhere better.

Like I have said on many occasions, as a person and for the institution of FUFA we do not subscribe to any form of abuse and diatribe against any person.” Magogo said in a statement.

He has put on notice persons who trade in insults while hiding behind supporting his cause, telling them they should communicate his numerous achievements instead.

“Those who hide in supporting me but abuse other persons may have their personal scores to settle and do not have any authority from me.

“Those who truly support my cause should advance the enormous achievements but no attacking other people.”

It was during Magogo’s rein that the “Uganda Cranes” broke a 39-year-jinx to qualify for the 2017 AFCON in Gabon.

The team is still in contention for a place in the 2018 Russia World Cup.

Respect for Mr. Lawrence Mulindwa

Magogo is specific he will continue to hold his predecessor Mr. Lawrence Mulindwa in high regard for his immense contributions in the Ugandan football.

He has also pledged to respect Mulindwa’s choice whether to challenge for a post in the coming elections or not.

Even though he has not come out to state his position as regards the up-coming elections, Mulindwa, the owner of Ugandan Premier League side Vipers SC is seen as the man to challenge Magogo for the top seat.

“As FUFA president, he made big contributions and continues to make huge contribution to the development of the game of football through Vipers SC and St. Mary’s Kitende SSS.

“I have exhibited and I will continue to carry full respect for Mr. Lawrence Mulindwa for mentorship and contribution to football in Uganda.”

Magogo calls Mulindwa’s backers who abuse him self-seekers and opportunists.

“I have personally received many unfounded allegetions and abuses to tarnish my 18-year dedicated football administration contribution to Ugandan Football by persons claiming to support Mr. Mulindwa. These are self-seekers and opportunists who will never make 1% of the contribution I made to the administration of Mr. Mulindwa. They would rather trade the legacy of Lawrence for personal benefit.”

“We can support our candidates with respect and advancing programmes for the development of the game and avail an opportunity to the voters to decide.” Magogo concluded.
