Ulinzi Stars forward Mark Makwatta has expressed his delight at bagging the Kenya Premier League golden boot.

Makwatta who scored a brace in last premiership match aganist Bandari FC extended his tally to 15 goals, three clear of his closest challengers, Muhoroni Youth’s Wycliff Ochomo and AFC Leopard’s Kepha Aswani running seven short of last years best scorer Jesse Were.

In an interview with his club portal the forward was quick to thank his team mates for their support.

“I feel so happy. I had always dreamt of doing this and at times I thought maybe I could not do it. But I am glad because the hard work and support from my team mates has paid off. It is a pity this award did not come with a trophy for the team because it would have made things even better,” Makwatta noted.

The lanky forward also finished top scorer in the Gotv Shield scoring six goals in eight appearences making him the best goal poacher for the team.

“It hasn’t been an easy season. We finished third in the league, reached the final of the GOtv Shield and we won the East Africa Military title as well. Probably we should have won a trophy or two but at the end, I think we should be proud of how we have performed,” Makwatta added.

Mark Makwatta who has been impressive throughout the season for the army side has seen his efforts rewarded having received a call up to Harambee Stars during past African Nation Cup of Nation qualifier aganist Zambia.
