Malawi-FAM Elections: Aspirants on last minute promises with less than four days to go

The Malawi Football governing body(FAM) elections will be held on the 12th of December in an AGM at Nkopola in Mangechi.
Aspirants are in last minute push to woe delegates to elect the new president with incumbent Walter Nyamilandu facing stiff opposition from Willy Yabwaya Phiri.

Both front runners made last minute promises with the incumbent Walter Nyamilandu saying that he will raise gate charges if he is re elected while Phiri said his administration will improve the players welfare.

Speaking during his manifesto launch on Friday,Yabwanya Phiri said time has come where respect to players is paramount and that their welfare should be key.He said it was not right to do much by fundraising for a deceased player when nothing was done when alive.He cited example of former Big bullets and Flames left back Doughlas Chirambo who died of brain tumour in April this year.
Yabwanya is confident of beating incumbent Walter Nyamilandu and Wilkins Mijiga on 12th December.

The current President of FAM who has faced heavy criticism for failure of Flames to reach the first and last round World Cup qualifiers.
Unlike his challenger,the incumbent is proposing a change in gate charges.
He revealed this on Saturday night during the Presidential Candidates debate organized by Zodiak Broadcasting Station at Bingu International Conference Centre in Malawian capital Lilongwe.He said for Super league(The countries top tier) the charges will be USD 3 while USD 5 for the National team.He said neighbouring countries like Zimbabwe and Tanzania do the same
