Norman Mapeza has been handed the mantle as coach to steer Zimbabwe Warriors in a friendly against Zambia’s Chipolopolo Sunday.

“The Zimbabwe Football Association has appointed Norman Mapeza as the interim Warriors’ head coach ahead of the senior men’s team’s friendly match against Zambia,” a statement from the federation confirmed.

Mapeza, who is also the coach of Premier Soccer League side FC Platinum succeeds former coach Callisto Pasua.

Pasua, 46, stepped down after the 2017 Gabon Africa Cup of Nations, where they failed to go past group B.

The warm-up which will be staged at the National Sports Stadium will be a first for the Warriors since the AFCON disappointment.
