Rayon Sports’ sensation Davis Kasirye earns maiden Uganda Cranes call up

Uganda Cranes Coach Milutin “Micho” Sredojovic on Wednesday morning released squad of 21 to start preparations for two matches ahead.

Cranes are scheduled to play an international friendly against Zimbabwe in Harare on May 31 before facing Botswana in the AFCON 2017 return leg on June 4 away.

Drafted in the team for the first time is Rayon Sports’ prolific striker Kasirye Davis. The 21 years old former Express and Police forward has been a revelation for the Rwandan bigwigs since crossing over from Uganda in August 2015.

Thus far, he has netted twelve times and assisted nine times in the league, including a hattrick he scored against arch rivals APR on May 3 at the Amahoro Stadium, Kigali.

Royon are two points behind APR in the league standings with six rounds of matches to the end of the current season.

Another new comer in the team is Werder Bremen’s striker Melvyn Lorenzen; the twenty one year old, born to a Ugandan father and a British mother has scored six times for the Bundesliga side.

Also in the team are regulars; Dennis Onyango, keeper of ABSA Premiership Champions Memelodi Sundowns, Gor Mahia duo of Godfrey Walusimbi and Khalid Aucho, Portugal based Luwagga Kizito, skipper Godfrey Massa of Celtics, South Africa and Tonny Mawejje of Thittur Iceland.
