Egypt national team winger, Mohamed Salah is on the verge of joining English Premier League side Liverpool in a club-record fee of £39million.

The 25-year-old was a key figure as his current club  Roma finished second in Seria A last season, scoring 15 goals in 32 league appearances.

He was to fly to England on Tuesday night after weeks of tense negotiations, with the deal set to be signed on Thursday and it is expected to eclipse the £35m the Reds paid for Andy Caroll in 2011.

Salah will be the first major signing as coach Jurgen Kloop starts his quest to upgrade his squad in a view of having a major impact on the Champions League.

The versatile winger was a key member of the Egypt national team that reached the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations finals where they narrowly lost to Cameroon.

He also featured for Chelsea at premiership where he made only six league starts before a further loan deal to Roma which became parmanent last summer.

Apart from Salah, the Reds have already lined up an on-off capture on Chelsea’s 19-year-old striker Dominic Solanke, who was top scorer as England won the Under-20 World Cup early this month.

Media reports indicate that his transfer fee will be decided by a tribunal after he rejected a new contract at Stamford Bridge, with the fee expected to be about £3m.
