Mortada Mansour announces Zamalek ‘Club of the Century’ trademark

Mortada Mansour, Chairman of Zamalek Board of Directors, triggered a loud surprise by announcing the authentication of the brand “Zamalek Football Club Real Century” as a trademark.

In a video posted on the club’s official website, Counselor Mortada Mansour announced the document proving that the club’s board of directors had officially documented the club’s new brand.

The president of the White Knights emphasized that the documentation of the trademark is a message to everyone that he will not leave the club’s right in all directions and will continue to fight for the title in all legal ways.

“We will present a complete file pertaining to the case to all the competent authorities to continue searching for the title recovery, and to confirm the club’s right to the title,” he said.

There has long been a dispute between Zamalek and bitter rivals Al Ahly on who is the rightful owner of the name, ‘Club of the Century’.

On 31 December 2000 the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has published a ranking with the most successful clubs of the 20th century in the African continent (CAF African Club of the Century).

According to the CAF ranking, the Club of the Century honor was bestowed upon Ahly with Zamalek ranked second.
