Nairobi City Stars have been chopped off from the top flight league after a 3-1 humbling by Kakamega Homeboyz in a Kenya Premier League (KPL) match played on Sunday 30 October 2016 at Safaricom Stadium, Kasarani.

David Okoth buried home the opener in the seventh minute as Hedmond Mauda made it second before Ali Bai made it three in second half but it was Pa Jassey Mulie long range craker that revived City Stars hope of coming back in vain.

City Stars poor form was displayed when experienced defender Arthur Museve gifted Homeboyz with the opener in the 7th minute when his feeble pass was intercepted by David Okoth to unleash powerful shot past City Stars goalie.

Kawangware based side tried to get themselves up with Festo Omukoto putting a try with a long range shot in 10th minute that went inches wide with Homeboyz keeper well beaten.

Tamale’s men  found themselves in receiving end minutes later when Helmond Mauda turned of lauzy John Amboko at the defence to double the lead with a hard well taken shot.

From a lop-sided first half, City Stars came back in the second half and were the first to win a corner that was well dealt with Homeboyz backline, that happening in the 47 th minute.

Came the 52nd minute Keiphas Baraza picked up Ali Bhai who maximized on poor marking at City Stars back-line before controling the ball to find the back of the net.

It was Festo Omukoto again wriggling between three Homeboyz defenders to find John Amboko in the 62 nd minute but the latter again saw his shot blocked by an outstanding Michael Wanyika.

City Stars reacted later in the 82nd when Pa Mulie drove a thunder for his first goal of the season finding a consolation for a side that had survived the chop in the past three consecutive seasons.

The home team had countless chances to level matters and even humble Homeboyz but Michael Wanyika stood tall to leave matters at 3-1 assuring City Stars of another long season in the second tier.
