Namakoola Steps Down as CRO Coach

Former national U23 tactician Charles Namakoola has parted ways with struggling FUFA super league side CRO over unpaid arrears.

 Namakoola’s resignation comes barely five month after his appointment replacing Mansoul Kintu who also resigned over unpaid  eleven month arrears.

 “I have resigned because of the poor working conditions at the club. I am unpaid for five months which I can’t endure,’’ narrated Namakoola to Soka25east.com

 “I have done everything I could for the club and I am sad that I had to leave this way. I have tried my level best but because of the unfavorable working condition, I saw it necessary to leave. ”

 ‘’For the players its worse, some of them sleep hungry without eating anything which is due to  non payment and while others were evicted from their houses over the  issue. As a professional coach, I saw it necessary to resign because you can’t demand good results from players who are not well motivated.’’he added

 Reliable reports coming in from the CRO camp confirm that the club owes Namakoola a five -month unpaid salary while the players are yet to be paid their salaries for over six months.

 When contacted for a comment, club chairman Moses Bwayo said that the coach lost his job following a string of poor results.

“We have relieved him of his duties following a string of poor results. The club was performing badly than before his appointment,’’ the soft spoken chairman told Soka25east.com

 CRO has had a terrible start to the in the round of the 2013/14 season having collected only six points out of the 45 from 15 games under Namakoola. He becomes the second coach to resign at the club over non payment after Mansoul Kintu who promoted the club who resigned at the start of the season.

 Since the start of this season, the club has been in financial crisis which led to over six players quit the club in the recent January transfer window namely:

 Club leading James Alitho joined Vipers, Moses Okello to big league club The Saints while Robert Magomu and goal keeper olupot Monte also joined Mbale regional side Telstar among others.

 On Tuesday, the club suffered the heaviest defeat  8-0 to KCCA the worst  in  super league in twelve years. The last time a super league club conceded over eight goals was in 2003 when SC Villa demolished AKOL  22-0.

 The events have continued to manifest themselves and   last week, the club failed to raise money to honor its Uganda Cup fixture against Stegota away in Kazo.

 Meanwhile Former Kiira Young head coach George Ssemwogerere has been linked at the club as a perfect replacement for the Namakoola but the deal is reportedly to have hit a snag after both parties failed to agree on personal terms.

 Prior to his coaching stint at CRO, Namakoola managed Busia Matooke, Busia Kasitamu FC, Rock Stars, Iganga TC and lastly Busia –Hoima in 2011/12 season and the national U23 side the Kobs in 2003.
