It is official, German Gernot Rohr is the long awaited Nigeria’s Super Eagles technical advisor.

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed the 63 year old former defender penned a two year deal, assuming the position Frenchman Le Guen declined in June.

He will be deputised by Yusuf Salisu, who was appointed alongside Le Guen as Chief Coach.

“Mr. Gernot Rohr signs two-year contract to work with the NFF as Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles.” NFF Tweet on Tuesday evening read.

Rohr played for Bordeaux in France as a defender and later, as Coach, took the team to the 1996 UEFA Cup final where they lost to Bayern Munich.

The German also coached top Tunisian club Etoile du Sahel and Nantes before managing the national teams of Gabon, Niger and Burkina Faso.

Unlike Le Guen who wanted to work from his base, Rohr is willing to live and work in Nigeria and help develop Nigerian football.

He is expected in Lagos after unveiling to catch up with Nigerian Professional League (NPL) match between Ikorodu United and Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan at Agege Stadium,Lagos.

NFF President Amaju Pinnick has promised Rohr’s salary will be regular and will be paid directly to his account by the federation’s partners.
