History was made in the Kenya football history after 37 year old IT
techprenuer Nick Mwendwa Kithuku emerged the new Football Kenya
Federation(FKF) President.
He garnered 50 votes against his challenger Ambrose Rachier who
colleted 27.
It was joy and celebrations after Mwendwa was declared
the winner as his supporters went wild with loud raptures.
It was “Team Change” allied to new President(Nick Mwendwa)that
claimed virtually all the seats .
Doris Petra endured a torrid moment
when she became the Deputy President following a re-run.
She bagged 54 points in the second round by overcoming her opponents Andrew Amokowa, Dan Shikanda,Hussein Terry and Twaha Mbarak .
The four shared the other remaining slots from the 77 delegates who voted.
The peaceful voting exercise was graced by Sports,culture & Arts Minister Hon.Dr .Hassan Wario, principal secretary Richard Ekhai and visiting Fifa representatives led by Fifa Head of Associations Primo Carvaro,Fifa Development Officer Ashford Mamelodi and Fifa/CAF head of delegation Leodega Tenga from Tanzania.
Earlier before the polls, outgoing FKF President Sam Nyamweya announced his withdrawal amid thunderous cheers from the packed Kasarani Gymnasium.
He wished his successor good tidings and promised to support him in his new mandate.
In his acceptance speech, Mwendwa thanked Kenyans for believing
in him adding that real work has started.
He promised to bring new order in football and called upon those who lost the elections to rally behind him so that they can change the face of football.
Nakuru East member of Parliament David Gikaria had the last laugh
after clinching the Rift Valley National Executive Committee representtve(NEC) after garnering 42 votes against Joe Birgen Kipchumba of Ulinzi Stars who got 23.
Timothy Nabea beat his only challenger Anjelina Mwikali to clinch the Eastern Nec representative while Chris Amimo of Ligi Ndogo is the new NEC Nairobi representative after garnering 31 votes. Jacob ‘Kabanze” Odundo finished second with 23 votes while outgoing
incumbent Simon Mugo finished third with 12 votes.
Raphael Mwalungo is the new Coast representative after collecting
44 votes.Mohamed Omar finished second with 19 while Ricky Solomon
finished third with 13 votes.
