By Diegwu Nwankwor,

Odion Ighalo scored twice as the Super Eagles defeated Libya 3-2 in Sfax, Tunisia to take a huge step towards qualifying for the 2019 AFCON.

Ighalo who has now scored six goals in his last three matches for Nigeria opened scoring in the 14th minute after some beautiful exchange of passes between Chukwuka Iwobi and Ahmed Musa with the latter setting Ighalo who simply tapped in.

Musa then produced some top class dribbling skills in the 17th minute as he escaped three defenders to score the 2nd goal.

However,  the Super Eagles became complacent and the Libyans equalized first by Mohammad Zubya in the 35th minute and Ahmad Benali in the 74th minute but the show belonged to striker Ighalo who dazzled past two defenders to calmly place the ball into the bottom corner to make it 3-2 for Nigeria.

The Super Eagles held on for a famous away victory. This also means that they are yet to lose a match since the 1st round exit at the 2018 World Cup.

Nigeria’s next match at the AFCON qualifiers is on November 13 against South Africa at the Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg.
