A one year ban is looming for former Ulinzi and Kenyan international Stephen Waruru after it has emerged that the former soldier double signed for both Tusker and Sofapaka

Sources at Tusker told Soka25east that the player had signed a pre contract with the club before finally signing a deal with the breweries but in a twist of events unfolding grapevine is rife that the diminutive player has a contract with Sofapaka

A Sofapaka official who didn’t want his name to be mentioned said Waruru had signed for the club and has even received six months salary in advance

KPL management has indeed confirmed they received Waruru’s contract with Tusker

Stephen Waruru scored 13 goals in 19 matches with the soldiers.

According to KPL,the signing of players and registration is done by FKF and not KPL and that they only get directions from FKF

Also facing another one year ban is Nzoia Sugar player Lawrence Ochieng who signed for Tusker and Gor Mahia at the same time

The Nzoia Sugar player according to Gor Mahia has signed for the defending league champions .
“We had confirmed at FKF that he has not signed for any club and we quickly moved in to sign him,we are not aware that he had signed a contract with Tusker ” said one of the Gor officials

The issue of double signings has rocked the KPL after it emerged that the 2018 KPL which is set to get more live coverage and money would attract top players .

Most clubs are chasing for signatures of highly rated players with the players double signing for monetary gain

FKF has not issued any communication on the duo and it will be interesting to know what action the governing body will take on the duo
